Australia easily overcame the Indian women’s cricket team’s score of 147 with to half-centuries from Alyssa Healy and Beth Mooney. Richa Ghosh contributed to the team’s score.

After losing the last Twenty20I by seven wickets at the D.Y. Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Tuesday, the Indian women’s cricket team won two of the three matches in the T20 series against Australia.

After being asked to bat first, Richa Ghosh, Shafali Verma, and Smriti Mandhana gave the visiting team a target of 148 runs.

Australia’s captain Alyssa Healy won the toss for the second time in a row in the women’s Twenty20 cricket match, opting to give India the chance to bat first.

Shafali Verma raised the scoring rate after taking a cautious start by hitting three boundaries in the fourth over. She even hit Megan Schutt for a straight six in the fifth over, but Healy’s catch ended her on the following delivery.

Mandhana took an aggressive role after losing her opening partner, helping India reach 60. But India was suffering at 66/4 as Jemimah Rodrigues, Mandhana, and Indian T20 captain Harmanpreet Kaur all left one after the other.

Once again, Deepti Sharma and Richa Ghosh contributed with a partnership of 33 runs before leaving after hitting 14 runs apiece, helping to avert a loss in the second Twenty20 International.

Despite this, Richa scored 34 runs off of 28 deliveries, and Smriti Mandhana scored a rapid 20 off of 17 balls, helping India to a solid total of 147/6 in 20 overs.

Following a wild beginning, Healy and Mooney settled into a reliable tandem for huge shots, which helped Australia win the power play by fifty runs.

At the score of 60 off Poonam Vastrakar’s delivery, Healy was caught by Jemimah, giving India a major breakthrough. The TV umpire determined that there was insufficient evidence to infer that the catch was made cleanly, hence the superb fielding efforts were in vain.

Just before Healy was about to reach her fifty-year mark, Deepti Sharma caught her.

Vastrakar dealt a double blow to the visitors by dismissing Gardner and Ellyse Perry in the 16th over, but Healy and Mooney held their ground at the first platform to produce big strokes.

With seven wickets and ten balls remaining, Australia easily won, and Mooney continued to play unbeaten at 52 runs.

Third T20 Brief Score: Australia – 149/3 in 18.4 overs (Alyssa Healy 55, Beth Mooney 52*; Poonam Vastrakar 2-26) versus. India Women: Australia – 149/6 in 20 overs (Richa Ghosh 34, Smriti Mandhana 29; Annabel Sutherland 2/12) Australian victory was seven wickets.
