Actor-politician and DMDK founder Vijayakanth dies in Chennai; he will be buried with state honours.

Just a short time after being placed on ventilator support, Vijayakanth, popularly known as “Captain,” passed away on Thursday morning. It was two weeks earlier that he had been released from the hospital following his initial stay for therapy.

New Delhi: On Thursday morning, at the age of 71, Vijayakanth, a well-known leader of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) party, passed away in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.

DMDK claimed on its previous Twitter account that he was having trouble breathing and had been diagnosed with COVID-19.Later today, his final ceremonies will take place at the party headquarters in Chennai.In 2005, Vijayakanth established the DMDK, and in 2006, he emerged as the only victor.

Elections to the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. The party had a decrease in 2010 after receiving 10% of the vote in Tamil Nadu’s 2009 Lok Sabha elections.

Former actor Vijayakanth, commonly known as “Captain,” rose to fame for his political aspirations as well as his noteworthy performance in the 1991 movie “Captain Prabhakaran.”Leaders from the region and the country sent their condolences on Vijayakanth’s passing.

M.K. Stalin, the leader of the DMK and the chief minister of Tamil Nadu, expressed that the film industry and Tamil Nadu both suffer from the death of their close friend Vijayakanth, who the Tamil people lovingly refer to as Captain. Stalin also said that full state honours will be given to Vijayakanth’s farewell tour.

In addition, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sadness over Vijayakanth’s passing. He hailed him for his dedicated public service as a political leader, making a lasting impression on Tamil Nadu’s political scene, and acknowledged him as a giant in the Tamil cinema industry.

According to The Hindu, Vijayakanth required “pulmonary support” when he was admitted to the hospital last month. Two weeks ago, he was let go. He took part in his final public function on December 14, the day his wife Premalatha Vijayakanth was chosen to serve as the party’s general secretary.

On December 28, actor, politician, and DMDK founder Vijayakanth passed away in a private Chennai hospital. He was brought to Chennai’s MIOT International Hospital. 

suddenly he started to feel worse. Vijayakanth had pneumonia and was receiving ventilator support, according to the hospital.

His party claimed in the early going that Vijayakanth had tested positive for COVID-19 and was put on a ventilator because he was having trouble breathing. But this was refuted by the hospital bulletin, which said he was fighting pneumonia.

The party declared prior to his passing that Vijayakanth’s last rites would be held with full state honors on December 29 at the party office in Koyambedu, Tamil Nadu.

The party announced in a statement that the event is set to begin at roughly 4:45 PM on Friday. Earlier, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin said that the DMDK 

The chief would be buried with full state honors.

The actor-turned-politician has been battling health problems since November of this year. Premalatha Vijayakanth, Vijayakanth’s spouse, took over as the DMDK’s general secretary on December 15

Premalatha Vijayakanth vowed to serve the party and its members in her first speech as general secretary. “Captain Vijayakanth has now given me the responsibility of the General Secretary,” she declared. Vijayakanth’s Political Career:

Vijayakanth became well-known as “Captain” as a result of his on-screen military roles. Regarding his political career, he started the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) party in 2005, marking his political debut.

 In the 2006 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections, the party received 10% of the vote, marking its electoral debut. Vijayakanth joined forces with the AIADMK in 2011 to take the lead in the Tamil Nadu Assembly’s opposition.

 Later, the party cut its connections with AIADMK over differences of viewpoint, which resulted in a widespread resignation.

Vijayakanth led the opposition in the Tamil Nadu Assembly from 2011 until 2016. Following that, as a result of a dispute over voting preferences, the party terminated itsVijayakanth resigned as an MLA as a result of his affiliation with the AIADMK. 

He was the representative for the seats of Rishivandiyam and Virudhachalam.

Awards were given to Vijayakanth in recognition of his efforts. Upon learning of his passing, supporters, politicians, and fellow performers sent their sincere condolences.

With condolences, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote, “Deeply saddened by the passing away of Thiru Vijayakanth Ji.” Millions of people were moved by his captivating performances, making him a legend in the Tamil film industry.

Rahul Gandhi, the Congressman, expressed sorrow on Vijayakanth’s passing as well. He said, “His involvement in politics and film has made a lasting impression on millions of people’s emotions. On his Twitter site, the former Congress head expressed his sympathies to his family and admirers during this trying moment.

Actor and leader of the DMDK, Vijayakanth, passed away. The leader of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), Annamalai, conveyed her sorrow over his passing. He expressed his deep sadness at learning of the loss of the DMDK’s revered leader, Captain Vijayakanth.

 He took great delight in establishing South India’s film industry, having been born in Southeast Asia. “A noble man who relieved the impoverished laborers’ hunger,” he wrote on his official Twitter account.Advocates for DMDK expressed its condolences for the passing of actor and DMDK leader Captain Vijayakanth.
